CELIA CONDRICK
Run Coach - BOSTON, MA
When I'm not running, I'm teaching math and coaching track at a middle school Cambridge! I grew up using running as a way to stay in shape for lacrosse. While running indoor track in high school, I grew a deep love for mid-distance races (600 and 4x800) and always wished I was a better hurdler. I ran cross country for one year and quickly decided that any race farther than half a mile was not for me. Right after graduating college I really struggled to find a reason to be in the gym or on a run without the excitement of a team sport to motivate me. That's when I decided to sign up for my first half marathon, and I really have not looked back. High school me would have never predicted this! I have been able to satiate my competitive nature by setting and pursuing lofty running goals, and while running can look like an individual sport, I have found my team in the MYSTRYDE running community. I love nothing more than starting my Saturdays with a group long run, and I am so excited to work as a coach and welcome more people into this community. I am a Certified Run Coach through Road Runners Club of America.
Coaching Philosophy
My main goal as a coach is to help you discover just how much you are capable of. There is nothing more rewarding than reaching a goal that you didn't think you could reach, or took a lot of work to get there. As your coach, I will provide an individualized plan that fits your running aspirations and lifestyle. I will help you find joy in the process and support you in putting in the work when the training feels tough.
Why I Run
I have been a runner ever since I joined XC team in middle school. That being said, running was just a tool I used to stay in shape for lacrosse, which I played through college. Once I graduated, there was a hole left from being able to play a competitive sport. At first, running became a way to fill this void. Now, running has become so much more to me. I have made some of my closest friends through running and I love being part of the running community in Boston. I can't lie though, one of the biggest reasons I run is because I love seeing what my body is capable of and pushing my limits as an athlete.
Favorite Race
Richmond Half Marathon - this was my first competitive half marathon where I set a goal and trained for a time rather than just to complete the distance. I also got to run this race with two of my best friends by my side the whole time. We all set PRs together and crossed the line right next to each other. This memory really sums up for me my favorite parts of running - setting and chasing a goal, but more importantly that special bond with a training partner / best friend only running can give you.
